Policy on ad hoc submissions:
Proposals for research areas that do not fit within the established research
priority areas may be submitted to CPRC on an ad hoc basis. To be considered
by CPRC the proposals must meet the following criteria:
•
Proposals must use the letter of intent form and must provide a rationale
as to why CPRC should consider funding their project, which is outside
of CPRC’s priorities.
•
The applicants must demonstrate that their research is cutting edge and
has the potential to:
- address an acute issue.
- relate to a significant scientific opportunity.
- benefit the Canadian poultry sector.
•
The applicants must provide evidence of matching funding.
•
No more than 10% of the CPRC research budget may be allocated to support
ad hoc proposals annually.
Accomplishments of the applicant such as a history of high quality publications,
successful collaborations, and/or awards are considered assets.
CPRC staff and the CPRC Board of Directors will review all ad hoc applications
to determine if they merit a full review. This review may take place
based on the original letter of intent as submitted or the directors
may seek further clarification before it is sent for external review.
Proposals approved for full review by the directors will then be reviewed
by a minimum of three, and up to five, external reviewers. The external
reviewers may be, but are not limited to, members of the Scientific Advisory Committee. The reports
of the external reviewers will be submitted to the CPRC Board of Directors
who will then make their final decision regarding support.
Support by the CPRC will depend upon the merits of the proposal and the
availability of funds.
